What is CRR?
The South Spartanburg Fire District believes unequivocally in the core values expressed in its mission statement. In keeping with these values, the Community Risk Reduction Division, or CRR for short, was established to emphasize proactive risk reduction initiatives implemented within the community. By actively engaging in proactive initiatives geared towards reducing the likelihood of emergency incidents, the fire district strives to provide life-saving measures in more ways than emergency response alone.
The CRR Division has multiple sub-divisions under the CRR umbrella, including the Office of the Fire Marshal, Emergency Management, and Public Education. Each of these plays a crucial role in its respect with an overall goal of keeping the citizens of the community safe. The audience for these programs includes all age demographics, and numerous safety resources are available at no cost to the citizens. Furthermore, the CRR Division works diligently to achieve the prestigious South Carolina Fire Safe Community designation annually; this level of achievement is bestowed only on a select number of fire departments within the state.
The South Spartanburg Fire District is a vital component of the community not only as an emergency service provider but as a pillar of the community as well. The CRR Division offers multiple services to embody that connection to the community by striving to be ever-present within it. The CRR Division offers educational and safety-related programs throughout the community to schools, private groups, commercial occupancies, and individuals. Additional services available include free smoke alarm installations for residences, child-passenger car seat installation education, producing reflective address signs, home safety inspections, CPR/First Aid certification classes, fire extinguisher training classes, emergency preparedness, and more.
