As part of the commitment embodied by the mission statement of the South Spartanburg Fire District, commercial occupancy fire and life safety inspections are critical services provided to the community. These inspections are conducted as a courtesy to the businesses within the fire district to help educate about fire and life safety violations while simultaneously providing impactful risk reduction measures to the businesses and, by extension, the community. Both public education and fire code enforcement are proactive examples of providing life safety services. If an emergency can be prevented before it happens, it benefits all parties involved and saves lives. The fire district has multiple certified fire inspectors within its ranks; the Fire Marshal oversees the commercial occupancy programs and conducts on-site fire and life safety inspections.
